Dear Readers, Seventy-five days after leaving Le Journal de la Photographie, we’re back with L'Oeil de la Photographie | The Eye of Photography. The seventy-five days were turbulent and full of passion, and we owe our return to ten sponsors who will support us as we develop a more sustainable business model. We will introduce them in the near future. We would like to thank them all. Our return also owes itself to our team: of the 36 regular and occasional contributors to Le Journal, 34 are with us today as The Eye. And above all, we are here today because of you. La Lettre de la Photographie is dead. Long live Le Journal de la Photographie. We waited for the right moment to tell you. With the opening of the Arles Festival , the most important photography festival in the world, the moment is now.

Why the title change? Because the adventure that began 18 months ago; has since exploded into notoriety and audience, that the term 'La Lettre', very French, was disconcerting to the majority of the readers from the 113 countries that are with us daily, that it was in total discrepancy with the coverage of the news in the world of photography, and would have hindered the new rubrics, territories and areas that we want to cover. As of this morning, you can discover our new logo. Starting in September, a new layout will be presented, other applications will also follow. Le Journal de la Photographie welcomes you aboard! Jessica Hines: My Brothers War (BlurbBooks)

I originally designed the Blurb book, "My Brother's War" for photographer Jessica Hines, for Hines to take to a Portfolio Review. The intent behind creating the work into book form, was to help show viewers how to look at what Jessica was trying to achieve with this work in the short time they are allotted during a Review session. Hines went on to win the Grand Prize for the Lens Culture International Exposure Awards 2010 for this series, as well as many other awards and exhibitions of this work (and the "book" gained recognition).

Paul Kopeikin, owner of L.A.'s, Kopeikin Gallery, said to me, "There is a new generation who having grown up with the internet feel they have "seen" photographs when they have only seen them online. As someone who believes in the beauty of the object, I know that art on a computer is only a reproduction, not the art itself, and often a poor reproduction at that. I remind my clients every time I send them a jpeg that it is only a reproduction, and that the actual work of art is so much better."
