The alchemy of photography is mysterious and unstable...it's component parts of grain shift like smoke in the wind and somehow emerge as an image with only an illusion of beingness – Richard Gere

That is a truly beautiful quote- not to mention it beautifully captures these two photographs. GT
The photos have a wonderful nostalgic feel to them, and more so I love the quote by R. Gere. Really wonderful. thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for posting these and following my blog. Your choice of photographs are amazing! Truly thank you.
subtly moving ...
fascinating .
the sentence too , sure .
great photos and wonderful quote. it's the side of Richard Gere I was not familiar with. thanks!
They do take you into another world. Had you not revealed the artist - I would have thought them to be earlier in the 1900s... Some lands are timeless...
Excuse my bad English,please...
Richard Gere, the actor, has made this photographs? It's a surprise for me totally!!!
Amazing....
Thank you very much for your visit to Indiando...it's a real honor for me.
I follow you!
Been seen this book for quite many years but only acquired it last year in small bookshop in Singapore. The book has beautiful photographs (leica's fingerprint?) also has fine paper stock, Mohawk Superfine of course and printed nicely by Meridian, best printer. These photographs called me to revisit Lhasa and surrounding, but I'll have to pass it this time (due to altitude sickness).
cheers.
Don't know which I prefer. Elizabeth Avedon's photo of Richard Gere or his photos in Zanskar and Mongolia :)
Never realized that Richard Gere was a photographer also. Have always respected him as an actor but now love his photographic work also.
